Syosset runners win awards in LI women’s run


Congratulations to Syosset runners Kim Solomine and Constance Sehlmeyer, both of whom won an award on July 13th in the 36th annual Runner’s Edge Long Island Women’s 5 Kilometer  Run presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
The 62 year old Solomine earned the first place award in the 60-64 age group, with a finishing time of 25 minutes, 10 seconds.  Sehlmeyer, age73, took home the 2nd  place award in the 70-74 age group, crossing the finish line in 26 minutes, 52 seconds.
The 5 Kilometer Run started on Woodward Parkway in Farmingdale and finished on the track at Farmingdale High School. Race management was handled by the Greater Long Island running Club, with GLIRC’s Debbie Blair serving as the Race Director.
The  charitable beneficiary of this year’s Run once again this year was The Opening Word, an education program hosted by the Dominican Sisters,  which teaches the English language and job readiness skills to immigrant women on Long Island, enabling them to become productive members of American Society.
