Man arrested in altercation with police

Nassau County Police arrested a man from Dehli, New York, for allegedly assaulting an officer on Friday, May 13th in Hicksville.

According to detectives, officers responded to a call at the Hicksville Middle School at 6:17 a.m., for a vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot. Police say the vehicle left the school prior to police arrival, so officers searched the area and observed a 2018 Mercedes C43 with extensive front end damage traveling on 6th Street.

According to police, officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver,  Mark Scott, 54, refused to stop. They say Scott continued to travel near the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and 8th Street, where he struck an unoccupied vehicle parked on the road before placing his car in reverse and striking the front end of a marked police vehicle. Polcice say they attempted to remove  Scott from the vehicle and arrest him, but he physically resisted. In an attempt to subdue the defendant, police say they were forced to utilize an Electronic Control Device (ECD),  One officer sustained injuries during the arrest and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.  Scott was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Scott is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Attempted Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, DWAI Drugs and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
